Research on Phone Coaching Accountability

By holding you accountable to someone other than yourself, by PHONE, the likelihood of sticking to your exercise program increases by over 2200%.

A study was conducted at Virginia Polytechnic where they took a group of people starting a walking program. Half of the people received a phone call once a week asking how their exercise program was coming along. The other half of the people in the walking program did not get a call. By the end of 24 weeks, only 2% of the people who did NOT get a call were still walking compared with 45% of the people who did get a call.

While the results of this study are quite impressive--illustrating that you are 2200% more likely to stick to a walking program by getting a weekly phone call, our results are twice that of the study, with 90% of clients still exercising after 24 weeks. This is because GFBP is about much more than the phone call. The combination of the Motivational Activity Monitors, the GFBP Diaries, the focus and guidance of an exercise expert, and accessibility to your Coach all week, makes GFBP more successful than any other approach to personalized fitness training, guaranteed!

In fact, Stanford University has been studying the effects of phone accountability on activity levels for over 24 years and their research also shows that by having contact with someone, by PHONE, once a week will help you stick to an exercise program by 75-90%, vs. only 10-25% with traditional personal training. That’s why we are so adamant about making the phone call a priority.
